It may seem small, but for Afghanistan women this is another milestone in their fight for gender equality. Last week, the country finally abandoned an age old custom of identifying a person with only his or her father's name and included the mother's name on official identity cards. This landmark change happened in the conservative Muslim country only after years of campaigning.
